Yes, but only if you get the right room. Hyatt Regency Phuket is very family-friendly: there is a huge pool, a brilliant kids’ club with a marine center, and great food for picky eaters and vegetarians. Our girls loved it. But our dark, noisy room made us leave early, so I would only stay here again with a quiet sea view room in a better location.
Hyatt Regency Phuket With Kids – Our Planned 4 Night Family Stay
In August 2024, we checked into the Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort with our two girls (then 3 and 7 years old). We booked four nights, paid 9,800 THB per night (around 270 USD / 250 EUR), and were so excited! We love the Hyatt brand. The Hyatt Regency in Koh Samui is one of our all-time favorite family hotels.
So, how was our experience at the Hyatt Regency Phuket with kids? Spoiler: We left early. Let’s dive in.

First Impressions of Hyatt Regency Phuket with Kids
Check-in took about fifteen minutes, which felt a bit long with tired kids after a flight from Samui to Phuket. But the staff was kind and professional. Cold drinks and refreshing towels made it bearable. They have fish in the lobby, so the kids have something to watch. A golf cart took us to our room (this place is steep, be ready to call those buggies a lot).
Everything looked beautiful. Open, clean, stylish.
Rooms And Family Suites At Hyatt Regency Phuket
We booked a Two-Bedroom Family Room with a small private pool. Sounds dreamy, right?
Well… it wasn’t completely.
The suite itself was spacious (67 square meters / approx. 720 square feet), clean, and had everything we needed: two bedrooms (one with a king-size bed and one with two twin beds), a living area, a large bathroom with a nice walk-in shower, and a little plunge pool on the private balcony. The room had beautiful dark wooden furnishings, the classic Hyatt style.
But the location of the room really let it down.
It was tucked away right behind a larger building with premium sea view apartments. So instead of a tropical garden or ocean view, we had… a wall.
Now, I’m aware that we didn’t book a sea view. That’s totally fair. But for almost 10,000 THB per night (around 270 USD / 250 EUR), a completely blocked view and such a dark setup still felt like a poor deal.
And then came the noise. There was some kind of golf cart parking lot right outside our suite. That meant we could hear staff walkie-talkies day and night. On top of that, the walls seemed pretty thin. We were woken up at 2 AM when our neighbors came home and started running a bath.
Of course, we know that some of this isn’t the hotel’s direct fault. However, it showed us that the sound isolation in this section of the hotel really needs improvement.
Best Room Locations For Families
If you are light sleepers like us, I would avoid rooms close to the buggy parking and main road. The higher buildings with sea view rooms feel brighter, quieter, and more “holiday”. If we stayed again, I would only book a sea view room in a higher block and ask the hotel in advance to confirm the location.
Breakfast, Restaurants and Club Lounge at Hyatt Regency Phuket
Breakfast Buffet and Vegetarian Options
Breakfast at Hyatt Regency Phuket was one of the best we’ve had in Thailand. The buffet was huge and beautifully presented, with something for everyone.
As vegetarians, we were really happy to see lots of plant-based options—fresh tropical fruit, made-to-order eggs, sautéed veggies, and a solid salad bar. There were also plenty of healthy choices like smoothies, fresh juices, and muesli.
And the not-so-healthy stuff? Also covered. There were pancakes, waffles, pastries, and sugary cereals—the kind of breakfast treats our girls get excited about.
One thing that really stood out: it didn’t feel crowded. Even though the hotel seemed pretty full, the breakfast area was well organized, spacious, and calm. No waiting in long lines, no elbowing through crowds. Just a relaxed start to the day.
The staff were super attentive, refilling juices, helping with special requests, and always smiling. It made the whole buffet breakfast experience feel easy, even with young kids.
Lunch and Poolside Dining
For lunch, we stayed at the hotel and ate at the poolside restaurant that offers international cuisine. We were thrilled to find thick-crust pizza (which is rare in Thailand). It was absolutely delicious, fresh, cheesy, and perfect for sharing. The veggie Pad Thai was also tasty, and the kids had no trouble finding things they liked on the menu.
There were also plenty of vegetarian and healthy options throughout the menu, which is not always the case in resort restaurants. This was a big plus for us.
Casa Boho Rooftop, Sunset and Game Room
The real highlight was Casa Boho, the rooftop Latin-American restaurant up the hill. You can walk, but trust me, take the golf buggy. It’s steep.
The vibe at Casa Boho was fun and a bit fancy. There’s an infinity pool, cozy seating, great music, and a buzzing sunset atmosphere. The food surprised us in a good way. As vegetarians, we usually don’t expect much from Mexican menus, but here we had tacos, guacamole, grilled veggies, and even dessert. Do not leave without ordering the churros.
The views over Kamala Bay at sunset were unforgettable. And after dinner, we discovered the game room just below the restaurant, with air hockey, table tennis, and a few other things. It’s perfect for older kids and teens, but our seven-year-old loved it, too.
Club Lounge And Snacks
We didn’t book a room with Regency Club access on this stay, but some room types include it. In general, Hyatt club lounges offer soft drinks, coffee, small snacks during the day, and evening canapés with drinks.
If you like having a quiet place to snack with kids or you enjoy a glass of wine before dinner, it can be worth the extra cost. I would ask the hotel what is included at the moment and compare it with the price difference.
Pool, Kids’ Club And Marine Discovery Center For Children
Huge Family Pool With Toddler Friendly Area
The main pool is one of the biggest we’ve seen and really well designed for families. There’s a wide, shallow area where younger kids can splash and play safely without needing to be held the entire time. It made pool time so much easier for us. It only lacked some shade, unfortunately.
There were always plenty of sunbeds available, and the vibe was calm and relaxed. The pool itself has beautiful views over Kamala Bay and a poolside bar. It might not be the most “Instagram-famous” setup, but it’s perfect for a laid-back family stay.
The best part was how attentive the pool staff were. One staff member called me over and offered us a swim aid for our youngest. We didn’t even ask, he just noticed we might need one and gave it to us to use for the whole afternoon, free of charge. We loved it so much that we ordered the exact same one online as soon as we got back to our room.
Camp Hyatt Kids Club And Daily Activities
The Kids’ Club is bright, clean, and thoughtfully designed. There are cozy reading corners, creative spaces for arts and crafts, plenty of toys, and a warm, welcoming team. The staff spoke good English and were so lovely to our girls. It felt safe and easy to drop them off and give them their own little adventure.
The kids also signed up for a pizza-making class with the restaurant’s chef. They got their own dough, toppings, aprons, the whole deal, and baked their creations in a real oven. They were so proud of their pizzas and couldn’t stop talking about it.
Marine Discovery Center – Jellyfish Feeding And Beach Walks
Ok, here comes the highlight: The Marine Discovery Center right next door. This isn’t just a display, it’s a proper hands-on learning space, run by passionate staff who clearly love what they do.
Our whole family joined a jellyfish feeding session, and even our then-three-year-old could take part. She was fascinated (and a little nervous at first), but the marine biologist made it fun and easy to follow. We also learned about sea stars, their role in the ecosystem, and even got to touch them gently.
The Kids’ Club offers outdoor activities too, like low tide beach walks to explore marine life on the shore. These experiences are rare in hotels and mean so much more than just indoor playtime.
Gym, Spa and Activities For Parents
I managed to sneak in a solo gym session in the morning and I’m so glad I did. The fitness center was completely empty, which made the experience even better. It’s air-conditioned, super clean, and has all the high-quality fitness equipment you expect from a top resort, from treadmills to weights.
Later, I treated myself to a one-hour oil massage at the Nahm Spa. My massage therapist was a little delayed, but instead of making me wait, another lovely staff member stepped in right away to start a kind of “pre-massage”. I was genuinely impressed by this level of service.
Location, Beach Access and Nearby Family Beaches
The resort sits on a hill above Kamala Bay, with beautiful sea views but no true walk-out sandy beach. To go to the small beach area, you need to cross a street. But for a real beach day, you will want to head to Kamala Beach.
Kamala Beach is only a short drive away and works well with kids, with calmer water, simple restaurants, and a relaxed vibe. The resort is close to what locals call “Millionaire’s Mile” – an area with super fancy houses and pretty beaches.
From the hotel it’s also easy to reach Patong Beach (around fifteen to twenty minutes by taxi) and Phuket Old Town for an evening market trip. We spent an evening in Phuket Old Town and loved the colorful houses and night market.
If you want even more space, Surin Beach and Bang Tao Beach are also good family options, a bit further up the coast. Our favorite beach is Naithon Beach, where we also had a family photoshoot.
Overall Family Experience At Hyatt Regency Phuket
We loved many things about this hotel, the huge pool with kid-friendly areas, the amazing food (especially at Casa Boho), the unique marine center, the fun Kids’ Club activities, and the incredibly kind and attentive staff.
It’s clear that this resort truly wants to be a great place for families, and honestly, it already is. From educational jellyfish feeding to pizza-making with a real chef, the experience was rich, fun, and well thought out.
But sadly, our room situation overshadowed it all.
Why We Left Early – Noise, Room Issues And Service
After the first night, we asked for a room change. The constant noise was just too much. We knew we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the rest of our stay like that.
Our contact person changed several times during the complaint process. No one really seemed to know what the last person had discussed with us. We had to explain the situation over and over again, which was frustrating.
Eventually, they showed us two alternative rooms. One was a downgrade without a private pool, but with water damage due to previous rain. The other faced directly onto a construction site. Neither felt like a fair solution.
So, we made the tough decision to check out early. Luckily, the hotel refunded the remaining nights we had already paid for. That was very much appreciated. Still, we left feeling disappointed. The rest of the hotel was wonderful, and it could’ve been such a dreamy stay for our family.
We spent the rest of our holiday at Pullman Naithon Beach, and this hotel quickly became our new favorite on the island! Here’s my honest review of the Pullman with kids.
Pricing and Value for Money
We paid 9,800 THB (approx. 270 USD / 250 EUR) per night in August, which is shoulder season in Phuket. During high season, the prices are higher.
Honestly, if the room had matched the rest of the hotel, I’d say it’s absolutely worth it. But with a wall view and bad noise isolation, it didn’t feel like good value.

Hyatt Regency Phuket is great for families who:
- Love kids’ clubs, pools and organised activities more than being right on the beach
- Want a relaxed resort near Kamala with easy taxi access to Patong and Phuket Old Town
- Travel with kids who enjoy learning activities like marine life, pizza-making and crafts
It’s less ideal if:
- You are very sensitive to noise
- You are on a tighter budget and will feel frustrated if your room is dark or has no view
- You dream of walking straight from the pool onto a wide sandy beach

- Check if breakfast is included in your rate. Some rooms come with access to the Regency Club Lounge, which gives you free snacks and drinks.
- Watch out for extra charges for activities or extra beds. If you’re bringing a third person, ask about costs beforehand.
- The hotel has different types of rooms, including twin rooms if your kids prefer separate beds (like mine). I also saw that they offer family rooms with a bunk bed.
