What are the Best Family Resorts in Koh Samui?
The best family resorts in Koh Samui are Hyatt Regency, Anantara Bophut, Banyan Tree, Centara Reserve, and Four Seasons. They offer kids’ clubs, calm beaches, and big family rooms.
Why Koh Samui Works for Families
We’re a family of four living in Thailand since 2019. After a few years in Koh Phangan, we recently moved back to Samui, and we simply love it.
Even though we rent a long-term home here, we love booking weekend getaways in hotels with our two daughters. Over the years, we’ve tested plenty.
This list of family hotels is for parents who want a mix of comfort, a bit of luxury, and enough space for the whole crew to relax.
My Top Picks:
💵 Best Value: Hyatt Regency Samui – big rooms, kids’ club
🌴 Beach + Town: Anantara Bophut – walk to Fisherman’s Village
🏝️ Private Luxury: Banyan Tree Samui – villa + private bay
1. Hyatt Regency Koh Samui (Chaweng Noi)

This one quickly became one of our favorites. It’s modern, clean, and super friendly for families. The whole place has a calm, chilled vibe—no loud pool parties, just couples and some families lounging, and kids splashing.
They’ve got an outdoor playground, a very sweet indoor kids’ club (with staff who actually play with your kids), and four swimming pools, including a shallow one with a water slide. There’s a daily kids’ activity schedule too, from crafts to Muay Thai Boxing.
You can walk straight down to a small beach cove. It’s quiet, with no waves—perfect for young children. Only downside: The beach is not good for swimming, as it is too rocky.
Read my honest review here.
Highlights:
- Four pools, including a children’s pool with a water slide
- Indoor & outdoor play zones, daily kids’ activities
- Super comfy family rooms with huge beds and sea views
- Calm beachfront with no crowds
- Buffet breakfast with healthy (and not-so-healthy) options

2. Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort (Bophut)

Want a beach, a spa, and Fisherman’s Village just a short walk away? This is the spot.
Anantara has that relaxed luxury feel—you check in and your shoulders drop. The infinity pool overlooks the ocean, and there’s a big grassy lawn that’s perfect for cartwheels or just running around barefoot.
The kids’ club is brand new and honestly the best I’ve seen so far. Lots of crafts and puzzles, and the staff are lovely. If you’re dreaming of a massage or a quiet dinner without cutting anyone’s food, babysitting’s available too. The beach is calm, sandy, and great for little swimmers.

3. Peace Resort (Bophut)

This beachfront resort is a solid pick for families looking for comfort, space, and a calm location.
Rooms and villas are modern, clean, and spacious—some even have private pools. The main pool overlooks the beach, and there’s a shallow kids’ area plus a small playground nearby, so little ones can stay busy while parents relax close by.
The kids’ club offers simple activities like crafts and games, and there’s babysitting available if you’re hoping for a quiet dinner or a bit of spa time. The on-site restaurant serves both Thai and international dishes and is known to be flexible with dietary requests.
The location is also a big plus—peaceful, but just a short walk to Fisherman’s Village, where you’ll find restaurants, shops, night markets and again, the magical fire show at 7:15pm every day.

This one’s for families who want total privacy and all the five-star things. Every villa comes with a private pool (yep, every single one), and the views are ridiculous—green hills, turquoise sea, postcard-perfect.
The kids’ club is tucked into a cute wooden house, with games, crafts, and even Thai culture workshops. There’s also a shaded kids’ pool and free shuttle buggies that take you around the massive hillside resort (your legs will thank you).

5. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui (Northwest Coast)

If you’re looking for something extra special (and you’re okay with the splurge), this luxurious resort is in a league of its own.
The villas are tucked into the hillside, each one totally private with ocean views—and yes, some have infinity pools. It’s peaceful, upscale, and designed for people who want space and quiet without giving up comfort. Great for families who like their luxury with a side of nature.
The kids’ club is impressive. They offer things like Muay Thai lessons, coconut painting, and Thai culture activities—not just the usual coloring books and cartoons. There’s a shaded kids’ pool, and the beach is private, calm, and ideal for paddleboarding or just floating around.
There’s also a full-size Muay Thai ring on site if anyone wants to try a family-friendly boxing session. And fun fact—most of The White Lotus Season 3 was filmed here. So if something looks familiar, that’s why.

6. Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort (Lamai)

We stayed here in 2026, and honestly, it was such a fun one for the kids.
There’s a splash pool, a proper waterslide, and enough space to run around without anyone shushing them. The kids’ club is open daily and actually feels like a kids’ club—not just a sad corner with broken crayons. There’s also a games room with table soccer and air hockey next door, which was really nice.
The hotel is modern and very family-friendly. The staff were super sweet.
The only bummer: the beach and pool are across the main road. It’s not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind, especially with little ones running ahead.
Highlights:
- Big family pool with waterslides and splash zone
- Kids’ club and teen hangout with games, like table tennis, and activities
- Family rooms with bunk beds (the most spacious rooms we’ve seen so far)

7. SALA Samui Choengmon Beach (Choeng Mon)

Not your classic kid-focused resort—and that’s kind of the charm.
SALA is more of a boutique-style Koh Samui hotel, with clean design, peaceful vibes, and private pool villas that feel like a little escape. The beach is just steps away and usually calm, so toddlers can paddle without drama. You won’t find a kids’ club here, but honestly, it still works well for families who prefer a quieter setup.
There are high chairs, a kids’ menu, and staff who genuinely don’t mind a bit of toddler chaos at breakfast.
Also, the food here is really good. Resort food can be hit or miss, but this place nailed it. We had dinner there on a Saturday evening, and they even had a DJ—which was a really nice touch.
Highlights:
- Beautiful pool villas with privacy
- Calm beach, perfect for toddler paddling
- Excellent food and room service
- Lovely garden paths and quiet zones
- Babysitting available on request

8. Centara Reserve Samui (Chaweng Beach)

Newly renovated and very fancy—but also surprisingly family-friendly. The splash pool is great for small kids, and there are family rooms with bunk beds and sea views. It’s located right on Chaweng Beach, but somehow still feels calm and grown-up.
There’s a kid-friendly afternoon tea (mini burgers, anyone?) and staff who go out of their way to entertain little ones. What I love most: the huge, well-maintained lawn between the hotel and the beach. When we were there, they had set up a small goal so the little ones could play football.
Highlights:
- Stylish family rooms with ocean views
- Splash pool + creative kids’ club
- Great food, including fun kids’ afternoon tea
- Direct beach access + walkable location
- Babysitting on request

9. Melia Koh Samui (Choeng Mon)

This one’s a hidden gem. Melia has a massive lagoon pool that winds its way through the whole property, so you can basically float from your room to breakfast (almost). There’s also a kids’ club called “The Kidsom”, a shaded baby pool, and a family library with beanbags and kids’ books.
They offer connecting rooms and suites, and the vibe is very family-forward without being chaotic. It’s peaceful, but never boring.
Highlights:
- Unique lagoon-style pool for lazy swimming
- Pirate-themed kids’ club + baby pool
- Family library and board games
- Connecting rooms available
- Calm beach right outside with shallow entry
Nearby attractions: Choeng Mon Beach (1 min), Wat Plai Laem (8 mins)

10. MAYA Resort Samui (Fisherman’s Village)

If you’re looking for something super affordable, central, and family-friendly, this 3-star hotel is it.
MAYA is just a short walk from the beach and right near all the action in Fisherman’s Village, but it still feels calm and tucked away. The villas are spacious, have kitchenettes, and the Mayan-style decor gives the place a fun touch without being over the top.
We stayed here once and really liked it. It’s simple, clean, and has everything you need when you’re traveling with kids. There’s an indoor kids’ club, an outdoor play area with a trampoline, and scooters the little ones can ride around the garden paths. We even drop the kids off there sometimes when we’re in the area—they’re super welcoming, even if you’re not staying overnight.
They also provide loads of helpful extras for families—baby cots, strollers, toddler toilets, baby baths, even beach tents. Makes packing a whole lot easier.
Highlights:
- Spacious houses with kitchenettes
- Indoor kids’ club + outdoor play area with trampoline and scooters
- Baby gear included (cots, strollers, etc.)
- Fisherman’s Village and the beach next door
- On-site restaurant with kids menus and bar

What Area in Koh Samui Is Best for Families?
If you’re not sure where on the island to stay, here’s a quick cheat sheet. Each area has its own vibe—and knowing the difference can save you a lot of “why is there a beach party outside our window at midnight?” moments.
- Bophut / Fisherman’s Village – Super walkable, calm beach, and loads of restaurants. Great if you want to ditch the car and just wander. BUT it’s one of the busiest areas of the island. Don’t expect a quiet and peaceful environment.
- Choeng Mon – Our personal favorite for younger kids. It’s quiet, safe, and has the softest sand. Plus, the waves are basically toddler-sized.
- Chaweng (North end) – Close to malls, restaurants, and activities, but still far enough from the party zone to get some sleep.
- Lamai (South end) – More local, more affordable, and still a really lovely beach. Great option if you want a mix of calm mornings and a bit of buzz in the evening.
Tips Before You Book
Before you hit “book now,” a few things to check (spoken from experience…):
- Ask if kids stay free and what the age limit is for free stays or discounted meals.
- Ask if you can use the sofa as a bed for your kids (we often do!) Some places happily set it up for free, others insist on charging for an extra bed—unexpected fees we’ve learned to avoid.
- Find out the minimum age for the kids’ club. Some clubs are 4+, some take toddlers, but require the parents to stay (we don’t want that, right?!).
- Check if they offer airport transfers or free shuttle service—especially helpful with sleepy kids and heavy bags. Most resorts are a 10–20 minute drive from Samui International Airport.

Final Thoughts on the Best Family Resorts in Koh Samui
We’ve tried a few spots around the island, but honestly, Hyatt Regency and Anantara Bophut are still our all-time favorites. The kids love the pools, and I love the vibe.
That said, no matter what kind of family trip you’re planning—luxury escape, budget break, or something in between—Koh Samui really has something for everyone.
If you’ve stayed at any of these places (or found another gem I should add), tell me in the comments—I’m always up for trying something new.
