Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, offers an exciting array of fun kids activities and interesting places for the whole family. Whether you’re looking for educational experiences or just a fun day out, Bangkok has something for every child to enjoy. Here’s a list of some of the best kids’ activities, places, and indoor playgrounds in Bangkok – personally tested by us and our two daughters!
Playville
Playville is our favorite indoor play center (even though it’s on the pricey side). It offers various activities, including play structures, trampolines, and a giant ball pit. The play center also has a cafe where parents can relax while the kids play.
Playville is more than just a play center with tons of activities; it’s the little things and the focus on safety and fun that make it special. The play structures are designed to spark creativity and get kids moving, making it a perfect spot for them to explore and make new friends.
For us parents, the on-site cafe is a game-changer. It’s a cozy spot where we can chill, chat, and grab a coffee while still keeping an eye on the kids. This thoughtful touch really adds to the whole experience.
Sure, Playville might be a bit on the pricey side, but the quality time and joy it brings to our family are totally worth it. The laughter, adventures, and shared moments we’ve had there make it one of our favorite indoor play places.
HarborLand
HarborLand is a vast indoor playground in Bangkok, located in a mall called Gateway Ekamai. One of the coolest things about HarborLand has got to be the massive slides – they’re a total thrill for the kids. And with the staff keeping a close eye on everything, we parents can relax knowing our little daredevils are safe while they burn off all that endless energy.
But HarborLand isn’t just about the big kids. They’ve also got a special area just for the younger ones, filled with activities and play structures perfect for their age. This thoughtful setup means every kid, no matter their age, gets to have a blast. It’s great to see a place that really gets what kids of all ages need for a fun day out!
Mari go round Premium Kids Cafe
Mari go round Premium Kids Cafe is a beautiful, bright cafe perfect for families with kids. You can find lovely designed play structures, trampolines, and a large ball pit. The cafe also serves a variety of food and drinks, making it a great place for families to spend a couple of hours.
BOUNCE Thailand
BOUNCE Thailand is an indoor trampoline park that especially older kids (I’d say 5+) love. It has loads of trampolines and other fun activities, including a foam pit, a dodgeball court, and a performance trampoline area.
If you want to show off your skills, the performance trampoline area is perfect for pulling off some jaw-dropping tricks.
BOUNCE Thailand isn’t just a place to play; it’s an all-out experience where kids can test their agility, coordination, and creativity, all in a safe, supervised setting. The layout is great for hanging out and making new friends, making it an awesome spot for group outings or birthday parties.
Playmondo at Central World
Playmondo at Central World is an indoor play center that offers many activities for kids, including play structures, trampolines, and a giant ball pit.
One of the coolest things about Playmondo is their bracelet system for kids. Each kid gets a bracelet that lets them order food on their own. It’s a fun way to give them a bit of independence and makes the dining experience more exciting.
Siam Amazing Park
Siam Amazing Park is a vast outdoor theme park – a bit like a mini Thai version of Disney Land. It has many rides and attractions, including a Ferris wheel, a 4D cinema, and a car racing simulator. My highlight is the big waterpark with giant slides. Note: If you don’t expect meticulous cleanliness, you’ll have loads of fun here!
Kidzooona
Kidzooona is a massive indoor playground located in the mall Gateway Ekkamai. The entrance fee for this place is very reasonable, so you can spend many hours there without spending a fortune.
Kids can dive into all sorts of activities, from interactive play structures to creative zones, which are perfect for getting them moving and thinking.
The affordable entrance fee makes Kidzooona a top pick for families who want to spend quality time together without worrying about the cost. Their focus on providing a fun and enriching experience at a reasonable price makes it a favorite for both locals and visitors.
MOCA
MOCA, or the Museum of Contemporary Art, is modern and interactive. For us, it was the best museum experience in Southeast Asia so far. From traditional Thai art to contemporary exhibitions, there is something for everyone to enjoy. And on top, the croissants at the cafe are delicious.
The museum is all about getting visitors involved and excited about art. With cool, thought-provoking installations and eye-catching exhibits, there’s something for everyone, no matter your taste in art.
Children’s Discovery Museum
The Children’s Discovery Museum is an interactive museum designed explicitly for children. From science and technology to history and culture, there is something for every child to enjoy. The museum provides a fun and interactive way for kids to learn, making it an excellent place for families.
Kids can dive into science experiments, explore the wonders of technology, or immerse themselves in history and culture. The museum encourages learning through play, sparking curiosity and creativity. It’s a place where kids can ask questions and find answers in a fun, engaging way.
But it’s not just for the kids – it’s a great spot for families to bond and learn together. The interactive exhibits make it easy for parents and kids to connect, have fun, and make lasting memories. I recommend this museum for kids aged 4+.
Banana Tree Horse Kids Cafe
Banana Tree Horse Kids Cafe definitely wins for the funniest name! This place is a super fun, interactive cafe with play structures, a big ball pit, and loads of games and toys. What I love most is that it offers both indoor and outdoor experiences.
What really sets Banana Tree Horse apart is the combination of indoor and outdoor play areas. Kids can have a blast both inside and outside, adding a fresh twist to the usual play cafe experience.
Wonder Woods Kids Cafe
Wonder Woods Kids Cafe is another gem for families with kids. It features a large ball pit and beautifully designed wooden play structures. But the best part? It’s also a Co-learning space with tons of workshops for the little ones!
Beyond all the fun, the cafe offers various workshops, creating a dynamic and educational environment for kids. This blend of play and learning makes it a special place where kids can have a blast and engage in activities that boost their creativity and growth.
Mahanakhon Sky Walk
Mahanakhon Sky Walk is a must-visit in Bangkok! Located on the 78th floor of the King Power Mahanakhon, it offers stunning panoramic city views. The highlight is a glass floor you can walk on (with socks), where you can see the bustling streets directly below. Honestly, walking the observation deck was one of the most thrilling experiences of my whole life (and I even did a bungee jump before). Our oldest daughter, who was 6 years old at the time, loved it, too.
You reach the Sky Walk via one of Southeast Asia’s fastest elevators. Once at the top, enjoy 360-degree views of landmarks like the Chao Phraya River and the Grand Palace. Sunset is particularly magical as the city lights up.
There’s also a rooftop bar where you can relax with a cocktail (and dry off that anxiety sweat).
Wat Phra Kaew
Wat Phra Kaew, or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is a must-see in Bangkok. It’s not just the most sacred temple in Thailand but also a stunning showcase of Thai art and architecture. Located within the Grand Palace complex in the heart of the city, the intricate details and rich history make it a fascinating visit. Plus, it’s a great way to experience Thai culture and spirituality up close – even for kids!
Floating Markets
Bangkok’s floating markets are an iconic and vibrant part of the city’s cultural heritage. These markets offer a very special shopping experience, where vendors sell their goods directly from boats on the water. I recommend this experience for either very small kids that you can carry or those 5 years and up.
Here are a few of the most famous floating markets in and around Bangkok:
- Damnoen Saduak Floating Market: This is the most famous and popular floating market, located about 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok. It attracts many tourists with its bustling atmosphere, colorful boats, and wide variety of goods, including fresh fruits, vegetables, and traditional Thai snacks.
- Amphawa Floating Market: Located about 50 kilometers from Bangkok, this market is known for its authentic and less touristy vibe compared to Damnoen Saduak. It operates in the afternoon and evening, offering a charming riverside experience with stalls selling seafood, local desserts, and souvenirs. The market is also famous for its firefly boat tours in the evening.
- Taling Chan Floating Market: Much closer to the city center, Taling Chan is only about 12 kilometers from downtown Bangkok. It’s a smaller, more local market, offering a more relaxed atmosphere. You can enjoy freshly cooked seafood, listen to traditional music, and shop for plants and handicrafts.
- Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market: Located in the Bang Krachao area, known as the “Green Lung of Bangkok,” this market is a great spot to enjoy fresh produce, local delicacies, and handmade products. It’s a more relaxed and eco-friendly market.
- Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market: Another market close to the city center, Khlong Lat Mayom is a hidden gem. It’s less crowded and offers a more authentic experience with a variety of food, fruits, and traditional Thai items.
